Rennie Mackintosh A5 notebook
Rennie Mackintosh A5 notebook
Low stock: 1 left
Soft-covered blank books with decorative paper featuring designs by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his wife and creative partner, Margaret MacDonald. Mackintosh himself once proclaimed, “Margaret has genius. I only have talent.”
The four designs here are from:
- poster for The Scottish Musical Review, 1896 (Mackintosh)
- The May Queen, 1900 (MacDonald)
- The Wassail, 1900 (Mackintosh)
- chairs created for Hill House and Ingram Street Tea Rooms, 1904 and 1911 (Mackintosh)
They are filled with GF Smith Sketch Natural, a 120gsm 100% recycled paper, manufactured using post industrial waste, with tiny inclusions of colour sprinkled throughout the sheet. This stitching is a simple stab binding, often erroneously called Japanese stab binding – which feels appropriate for books celebrating a pair of designers who were so inspired by Japanese style.
Pen is shown for reference and is not part of the sale.
